Medieval Japan: Religion
After christian missionaries got to Japan they wanted to share Jesus with the natives of Japan. In 1549 Francis Xavier (the Jesuit) came to Japan. He spent two years changing some Japanese into Christianity. Japan had offers of European trade. The thing is that the Europeans trading ships were forbidden to dock at ports that were controlled by daimyo. Some daimyo actually became christian's but only for trading purposes though.

Medieval Japan: Political Views
Japan decided to copy China in many ways from their religion to their writing system. They also copied China's government. During the 6th century, the Yamato clan announced their rule and tried to govern Japan. Japan sent scholars to China in order to fully understand the way of their government. The reason why Japan copied almost every idea China had was because China was like a power house. Japan looked up at China for many reason and decided to try to become like China.
